Success Redefined: Unlocking Your Unique Path to Achievement

Success, we all yearn for it, but have you ever stopped to think about what success actually means to you? Many of us associate career success with the conventional markers of accomplishment—a big paycheck, a prestigious title, or a coveted corner office.

However, somewhere along the way, we realize that success is not a one-size-fits-all concept; rather, it means something different for everyone and our own personal definition of success is influenced by our values, strengths, and aspirations.

In the early stages of my career, I fell into the trap of believing that success was all about surpassing expectations and climbing the corporate ladder. I pushed myself relentlessly in this pursuit, only to find myself constantly feeling stressed and overwhelmed. It took me years to finally realize that I was on the wrong road. I was on someone else’s road to success (which turned out to my road to burnout).

When this moment of clarity struck, I knew I had it all wrong. I needed to redefine what success truly meant to me.

Let me be honest—it wasn't an easy process. I had to confront some challenging questions head-on. What truly brought me fulfillment in my work? What made me feel energized and motivated? What did I want to be known for, and what kind of impact did I want to have on the world? And as I started getting clarity on these answers, something interesting happened—I started seeing more success in my life, both personally and professionally. I felt more fulfilled in my work, and I’ve been able to make a greater impact in the areas that matter most to me.

Just this year, I’ve experienced two of the proudest moments of my career when I received the 2022 Young Women in Energy Award and was selected as a Top 100 semi-finalist in Canada’s Total Mom Pitch presented by TD. Since redefining what success means to me, I've created a path that is uniquely my own and it's paying off in ways I never could have imagined.

As a leadership coach, I encourage my clients to take the time to redefine success for themselves. By getting clarity on their vision and goals, tapping into their unique strengths, and aligning them with their core values, they can create a path that is truly fulfilling and meaningful to them.

If you want to unlock your own unique path to success - it starts with asking yourself the tough questions. What do you truly value in life? What unique strengths and talents do you possess? And what kind of impact do you want to make in the world? Once you've answered these, you can begin crafting a vision and definition of success that resonates with your values and leverages your strengths.

And you don't have to do it alone! Countless resources and supports are available to help you on your path to success. A couple of my favorite books that have helped me along the way include: "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People" by Stephen Covey and "Start With Why" by Simon Sinek.

And if you want more guidance and support, I invite you to join my Repowered Leadership Academy, where I'll take you through the exact steps I undertook to redefine success and achieve my own goals.
